Former Conference President and Executive passes

This word was received today on the SDB E-mail Network from Pastor Gabe Bejjani of our church in Riverside, California:

“I would like to let our leaders know of the passing of one of our beloved and devoted leaders. Dr. Pete May passed away to be with Lord on October 4th at noon in Arcadia. Nancy and the boys are saddened but doing fine. Please lift them up in your prayers.

“A memorial service is scheduled for October 22nd at 2:00 p.m. at the Riverside SDB church. Another memorial service is planned for the 23rd in Arcadia. Dr. Pete will be missed, but he left a legacy of love and service among all who knew him.”

Dr. Lewis H.V. “Pete” May served as our Conference President in 1967. The sessions were held in Grand Rapids, Mich., with his theme “Open Your Hearts Lovingly.” He certainly did that with all who were privileged to work with him.

Pete also served as our part-time Executive Secretary from October 1999 until Conference in 2004, working as an ambassador to our churches.
