CSA: Famine in Africa

Written by Jeremiah Owen

July 27, 2016

CSA by way of the SDB Missionary Society received word from our SDB brothers and sisters in Malawi that the President of Malawi, Professor Peter Mutharika declared a State of National Disaster because of the El Nino weather phenomenon which resulted in a poor harvest all over the country. As of July, the situation is getting worse with a 50 kg bag of maize which had been sold for MK5000 ( approx $7) has gone up to MK16000 ( approx $21). Maize is a staple food in Malawi and thus is causing many to go hungry.

CSA heard and answered the call, and has provided additional funding to the SDB Missionary Society to help our brothers and sisters in their time of need. Please continue to pray for those in Malawi who are affected. If you wish to find out how you can further help please contact: contact@sdbmissions.org
