AMANDA BARBEE—SCSC Training Director
The SCSC Committee of the SDB Women’s Society is excited to announce Amanda Barbee as our new Training Director.

Amanda comes to SCSC with a variety of experiences with SCSC as she explains below. Her heart for SCSC, missions, youth, young adults, and service has uniquely prepared her to lead. Welcome, Amanda to this new role.

Usually when I, Amanda Barbee, am asked to describe myself, my answer is I am a stay-at-home mom who moonlights as a pharmacist. However, as with most things, who I am is a lot more complicated than a single sentence. I am the daughter of Donald and Linda Graffius. I am the oldest of three siblings. My brothers are David and Gabe. My husband is Perry Barbee. I am a mother of 3 children, Andrew, Aaron and Angela.
I accepted Christ as a small child and my experience after 2nd grade at Camp JOY cemented that commitment. I spent 3 summers in Summer Christian Service Corps before I attended pharmacy school at Campbell University in North Carolina where I also served as a resident assistant. It is at Campbell that I met Perry, my husband of almost 19 years. After school, we returned to Pennsylvania where we have served our church and association in many capacities including youth leaders, camp staff, camp director, cook, and Sabbath School teachers. I have been the Camp Joy Program Chair for many years and the past few years I have served on the Missionary Society Board.
In my almost 20 years as a pharmacist, I have worked both full time and part time in a retail setting in independent pharmacies within a 2-hour radius. I travelled as a pharmacist on several mission trips with the Christian Medical Dental Association, twice on mission trips with the Missionary Society, and once on a dental trip as a helper.
I spent two years recently as a helper in a preschool classroom. I have served there as the “crazy science lady”, taught geography, and served as a substitute teacher.
I enjoy reading/listening to audio books, traveling, trying new recipes, and quilting when I have time.
Most recently, I have been the SCSC Training Cook. This job has brought me great pleasure. With the help of Althea Rood, Kristin Camenga, and others, I have agreed to learn the role of SCSC training director. It is my prayer that the Lord will use me in His service.
