Scripture Memory Program Off and Running!

How great is our God!! Conference President Charlotte Chroniger has chosen this as our Conference theme for this year. What a wonderful way to remind us all year long of the goodness of God!

This year’s Scripture memory program is centered around the Psalms, and many facets of the God’s greatness found there. There are nine passages to memorize, or two options for longer/continuous passages if that is your preference. Program materials have gone out to each church and can also be found on the Conference website.  If you have started the program already in September, you are finishing the first month and getting ready to start your second.  If you haven’t, there are program materials that begin for October and run through June, so it’s not too late!

Participation in the Scripture memory program has waned over the past couple of years. There could be a number of factors for that, but let’s not allow anything to get in the way of hiding God’s word in our hearts as a Conference! Consider some our-of-the-box ideas for engaging all age groups of your church or fellowship, such as rewards/recognitions for each verse learned, friendly competition between Sabbath School classes or weekly study groups. Find a partner and hold each other accountable each week/month. Perhaps even challenge another SDB church or fellowship to a friendly competition.

Throughout the year we will also provide some additional supplemental materials to help engage your congregation through graphics, children’s messages, puzzles, etc. They will be posted on the Conference website and announced in the blog.

If you have any questions regarding the Scripture memory program, please contact Nick Kersten, Director of Christian Education at nkersten@seventhdaybaptist.org

Let’s make this the biggest year yet for SDB Scripture memory!
