2022 SDB Week of Prayer

Welcome to the midway point of the 2022 SDB Week of Prayer! What a joy to participate with Seventh Day Baptists from around the world in a season of prayer. Praying for and with one another reminds us of the blessing that our freedom in Christ empowers us to appreciate and celebrate diversity.

Pastor Luciano Barreto Nogueira de Moura, President of the Seventh Day Baptist World Federation, challenges us all to pray “that we will be delivered from all kinds of prejudice and sanctified by intimacy with our Lord.” Not only are we praying against our sinful tendency toward prejudice, but also ways that ideologies that are opposed to Christian principles are influencing the concept of diversity.

Today’s prayer emphasis is for Seventh Day Baptists in India, Indonesia, Ivory Coast, Jamaica, Kenya, Lebanon, and Liberia.[1] The excellent devotional is provided by Dr. Carlene Wynter, president of the British Conference of Seventh Day Baptist Churches. When it comes to the Liberty of Diversity, Dr. Wynter challenges us: “May we ever live His Gospel as how He lived His life – Incarnational.” That is a challenge that I will be spending more time reflecting upon this week.
