SDB Coach Training

What a weekend! SDB Coach Training was held at the Seventh Day Baptist Center in Janesville, WI from March 15 to 16, 2025. Nineteen people from ten churches participated in the practical coach training led by Pastor Nathan Crandall (Milton SDB Church, Milton, WI).

Ministry leaders invested their time to learn the “deep dive” coaching method for use in their congregations and in relationships. Participants included: Gerald Edwards, Tameka Edwards Gooden, Clive Fairclough, Amy Trees-Palkki, Matthew Olson, Amanda Barbee, Tabatha Pethtel, Brittany Kersten, Cindy Greene, Nick Kersten, John Pethtel, Barry Dailey, Sharon Dailey, Josh Coleman, Riesa Coleman, Dan Gillham, JR Shick, Frank Bernau, and Nathan Crandall.

First, thank you to the participants for investing their time to steward their skills and talents as disciple-makers. The weekend provided tools to more effectively develop and deploy individuals within congregations by fostering deeper spiritual growth. Beyond the individual, there was emphasis on fostering a more engaged community through providing personalized guidance, accountability, and support, aligning with core Christian values and personal calling and gifting.

Thanks to Pastor Nathan Crandall and SDB Director John Pethtel for organizing and developing this fantastic experience! This weekend was a next step in SDB Coach training following the first prototype Coach Training led by Pastor Nathan and hosted by Pastor David and Jennifer Stall in the Fall of 2023. The SDB Coaching initiative and specific training is possible thanks to generous support from the SDB Memorial Fund.

Location

This is the first event hosted at the SDB Center since undertaking Phase 1 of the renovation project. Sessions were held in newly refreshed rooms that have been prepared for hosting SDB ministry leader gatherings. We are looking forward to hosting more events in the near future . . . and undertaking Phase 2 of the renovation work.
