Sabbath Recorder – May 2025
Join God in His Good Work
In Colossians 3:23–24 we are reminded, “In all the work you are doing, work the best you can. Work as if you were doing it for the Lord, not for people.” The May 2025 issue of the Sabbath Recorder is an invitation to labor well in the mission fields God has placed before us—and to celebrate the visible ways He is moving among us.
🔹 Advancing God’s Kingdom
Carl Greene shares how necessary ingredients and sufficient conditions are being aligned for Gospel growth across our Conference. From the Memorial Fund’s support of leadership development and coach training to the ongoing renovations at the SDB Center in Janesville, this is a season of sowing and strengthening. As Carl reminds us, “We are moving beyond necessary ingredients and meeting sufficient conditions to take next steps.”
🔹 Local Missions with Lasting Impact
• Damian Greene gives a joyful account of Berlin SDB Church’s third annual Party Palooza, a free event that connects neighbors through food, fun, and even a 60-lb tortoise!
• Pastor Wayne North shares New Auburn Freedom Community Church’s extraordinary year of outreach—including Come Alive! revival weekends, Summerfest (with 400+ guests), weekly youth ministry, and practical acts of community care.
• Pastor Chris Galarneau introduces Iron Foundry, a discipleship initiative for teen boys that combines weekly pizza and discussion with a powerful daily devotional and authentic Christian brotherhood.
🔹 The Blessing of Diversity
Pastor Isaac Floyd reflects on how differing Sabbath expressions enrich us. “The Sabbath is made for our benefit, and some of the best benefits are the ones we never knew we needed until someone shows us we do.”
🔹 Mission Around the World
Rev. Garfield Miller recounts his recent mission trip to Burundi, highlighting the power of biblical reconciliation and the importance of healthy structures in our global SDB family. “To strengthen our denomination, we must prioritize equipping and educating our members.”
🔹 Biblical Reflections
Dennis Coleman’s Revelation study explores the symbolism of the open temple and the Ark of the Covenant in Revelation 11:19. For the Church, this vision is hope. For the world, it is warning. And for all, it is a call to worship.
🔹 Encouragement for Every Season
• Pastor Valerie Heath of Good News SDB Church (Apex, NC) tells her personal story of moving across the country and following God’s leading into church planting—despite doubts and distance.
• Tom Davis challenges us to live lives that disciple others “even when the lines aren’t smooth and straight.”
• Lauren Kinlocke recounts the joy and growth of Deep South Camp, where over 40 youth engaged deeply with the fruit of the Spirit.
• Pastor Tyler Chroniger begins a new “Woman of Faith” series with a look at Proverbs 31: “There is only one criterion that matters—do you fear the Lord?”
