One of the ways that Seventh Day Baptists create and sustain conference-wide community is by gathering for General Conference. The people of our churches use these gatherings to worship God together, make decisions about the shape and direction of our shared mission and ministry, form and deepen relationships with people from other churches, exchange stories about what God is doing, and generally encourage each other to fight the good fight of faith.
Your General Council has, over this past year, prayerfully considered what we do when we gather for General Conference — with an eye toward our shared mission and ministry. We believe that our gatherings can do a much better job of helping the Conference see, appreciate, remember, and pursue our mission: equipping our churches to actively advance God’s kingdom.
The report we release today includes a list of broad principles we plan to use to shape the General Conference sessions for the next season of our life together. The broad principles point in a direction; making decisions about how to implement the principles will be part of our work for the next ministry year.
We encourage you to read the report and prayerfully consider its content in preparation for our 2025 sessions in Carthage, WI.
