New SDB Book Release at the Summit

Written by Carl Greene

March 25, 2026

We are excited to announce a brand new SDB publication: God’s Good News For Us Today: A Sermon-Writing Manual for Seventh Day Baptists by Rev. Matthew Olson. This book will be distributed to all participants at the SDB Summit (April 24-26, 2026). The rest of us will have to wait a little longer.

About the Book

As stated on the book cover, God’s Good News For Us Today provides a practical, time-efficient approach to sermon preparation. Written specifically for Seventh Day Baptist pastors, it outlines a five-day method that moves from prayer and exegesis to outline and application, helping preachers craft thoughtful sermons without last-minute stress.

Grounded in the values of the Seventh Day Baptist tradition, the manual emphasizes prayerful preparation, clear structure, and space for Sabbath rest. With practical guidance and pastoral insight, Olson offers a simple system to help pastors preach faithfully while sustaining their own spiritual health.

Thank you to the SDB Memorial Fund for their support of endeavors such as this that encourage the proclamation of the gospel alongside a sustaining practice of rest.

About the Summit

The Summit 2026, a SDB leaders conference, will take place April 24–26, 2026, in Orlando, Florida. Dave Hataj will open the event on Friday the 24th, and an optional coaching seminar will be offered on April 27, led by Pastor Nate Crandall. The Summit is open to serving or retired pastors, elders, church planters, chaplains, preacher-type leaders, those training for or discerning a call to church leadership, and their spouses.
