Pastor David Taylor shared a vision for Central SDB to plant a new congregation, a vision he also communicated to other SDB churches across the DMV area. He began by forming a study group centered on the book, Experiencing God, by Henry Blackaby. After completing the study, we prayed over the Silver Spring area, asking God to guide us in His Kingdom work within the community. In response, my wife, Heather, and I were commissioned by Central to lead this new church plant in Silver Spring, Maryland.
Ministerio Gracia Sobre Gracia (Grace Upon Grace Ministry) began meeting in June 2014. Our journey started with a vision to establish a Spanish-speaking SDB church in our community, as my family and I had been driving 40 minutes to attend Central SDB in Mitchellville, Maryland. During our first year, we met in local public schools. After a season of searching and prayer for a more suitable location, God opened the doors for us at Layhill Community Church, where we were welcomed to gather for Sabbath worship.
With Central’s financial support in our early years, we were able to grow and eventually become self-sustaining. We have continued to operate under Central’s umbrella, faithfully submitting quarterly financial and attendance reports.
Over the past eleven years, we have been blessed with a dedicated group of believers committed to serving our community and advancing God’s Kingdom by sharing hope, love, and faith in unity. We are now seeking recognition as an official member church within the SDB Conference.
