The Sabbath Recorder is the flagship publication of the Seventh Day Baptist General Conference, informing, connecting, and encouraging believers across the United States, Canada, and around the world.
We are seeking an Editor who is passionate about storytelling, grounded in Scripture, and eager to help share what God is doing through Seventh Day Baptist churches and ministries. This role offers a unique opportunity to steward a historic publication while shaping its future impact.
Position Overview
The Sabbath Recorder Editor provides editorial leadership for the denomination’s primary publication. This role is responsible for curating thoughtful, Biblically grounded content that reflects the mission, life, and ministry of the Seventh Day Baptist community.
Key Responsibilities
Editorial Leadership
- Collaborate with denominational leadership to shape the vision and themes of each issue
- Ensure content aligns with the mission and ministry of the Seventh Day Baptist General Conference
Content Development
- Solicit, edit, and curate articles from pastors, leaders, and church members
- Write occasional editorials or feature pieces as needed
- Maintain high standards for theological soundness, clarity, and quality
Publication Management
- Manage editorial timelines and deadlines for each issue
- Oversee layout and design coordination
- Review proofs and approve final content prior to publication
Communication & Coordination
- Maintain clear, consistent communication with contributors and ministry partners
- Coordinate submissions, edits, and revisions throughout the publication process
Qualifications
- Strong writing and editing skills with careful attention to detail
- Ability to manage deadlines and coordinate multiple contributors
- Familiarity with Christian theology and church life
- Understanding of Seventh Day Baptist beliefs, culture, and mission
- Self-motivated with strong organizational skills
- Alignment with the mission and values of the Seventh Day Baptist General Conference
Preferred: Experience in magazine, newsletter, or publication editing

Compensation
This is a contract, part-time role with a stipend provided per issue.
