Social Statements

Local Seventh Day Baptist churches are the authoritative body in the Seventh Day Baptist General Conference of the USA & Canada.  As a result, it is local churches who frequently engage in their communities on the societal issues which are affecting them most directly.  In this, the local churches speak for themselves.  Nevertheless, sometimes the Conference of churches during their yearly sessions choose to address matters on which there is broad agreement, though individual votes at our yearly sessions on these issues represent only the opinions of those churches who participated in the vote that year.

Statements made recently by our General Conference in session include:

  • Resolution on Child Protection (2015)
  • Resolution Affirming Previous SDB Statements on Marriage (2015)

A document that collects the statements the SDB Conference has made since 1970 can be found here.
